Julius Lesser was born in the Bronx, New York.

His interest in art started in his late twenties when a neighbor asked him to draw a picture for her school assignment.

After attending an evening adult education course in painting he decided to study at the Art Students League and the Frank Reilly Studio on 57th Street in New York City. Upon moving to Rockland County, NY, he took additional art courses at Rockland Community College.

Mr. Lesser then moved to Florida where a miniature art show inspired him to begin creating miniature art.

He studied with Jean Dunne, an accomplished miniature artist, who has won numerous awards.

An avid portrait artist, he attends 3 drawing sessions per week.  Mr. Lesser draws at the St. Petersburg Art Center once a week and the Nick Sacripante Art Group in Elfers, Florida, twice a week. He relaxes at home with his drawing journals, many of which are filled to overflowing with portraits and portrait gestures.

The majority of Mr. Lesser's paintings that have been purchased were commissioned works.

He has exhibited locally at the Dunedin Fine Arts Center in Dunedin, Florida;  the Oldsmar City Hall in Oldsmar, Florida;  the St. Petersburg Art Center ; and the Miniature Art Society of Florida's 2001 Art Show in Belleair, Florida.

Mr. Lesser is a member of TESA (The Exhibiting Society of Artists) ; the Tarpon Springs Art Association ;  East Lake Art Club and the Palm Harbor Art Club.
